The Bee Vradenburg Foundation congratulates the Colorado Springs Children’s Chorale as it marks a milestone 30-year anniversary this season.
Formed in 1977 as a civic children's choir, the Colorado Springs Children's Chorale has grown from one choir of 30 children to five choirs of 200 children from all over the Pikes Peak region. The original founders, Bob Crowder and Brad Peterson, continue to this day as directors, among a total staff of five directors, five accompanists, executive director Marcia Hendricks, and an office manager. The Children’s Chorale presents two major concerts in the Pikes Peak Center for the Performing Arts and more than 100 concerts, workshops and other training sessions in the community each year.
The Children’s Chorale often serves as a cultural ambassador for our community by performing all over the world – particularly in Japan – and hosting cultural exchanges such as the 2004 Pikes Peak International Music Festival. In 2005, the Children’s Chorale was awarded the Mayor’s International Award for enriching the cultural and educational life of Colorado Springs and creating a positive image of our city around the world.
