Now entering its 25th anniversary season, the Chamber Orchestra of the Springs began as an informal consortium of musicians in 1981 and formed officially into an orchestra in 1984. Thomas Wilson, currently serving as associate conductor of the Colorado Springs Philharmonic, became music director in 1996, with the goal of lifting the orchestra both artistically and financially. Today, the orchestra boasts 35 musicians and five-concert subscription season and at least 20 performances annually, including season shows at First Christian Church and Broadmoor Community Church. The orchestra is noted for its collaborations with groups such as the Colorado Springs Conservatory, the Colorado Vocal Arts Ensemble, the Colorado Springs Children’s Chorale, Pikes Peak Ringers and Amateur Pianists International.
